About Carrie

Carrie Willard is a writer and speaker based in Houston, Texas. Originally from a small town in Wisconsin, she discovered her love for entertaining at an early age. For Carrie, “entertaining” can mean anything from whipping up too many deviled eggs for guests to bringing laughter to a stuffy room – sometimes at the same time. Her writing and speaking themes include family, music, reconciliation, food and hospitality, parenting, anxiety, and grace-filled theology. She makes her home in Houston with her husband, two sons, and three dogs. Her personal interests include robotic vacuums, undereye concealer, high-SPF sunscreen, and answering questions from strangers at the grocery store.

This website is designed for people who are interested in learning more about Carrie’s writing and speaking. The website’s name, Carissima, comes from the Latin for “beloved,” reminding Carrie that she is beloved by God. The tagline “Lord Have Mercy,” is something that Carrie not only utters out loud and under her breath several times a day, it is also the crux of her theology: praying for mercy and forgiveness.
